10/2/2006 AMVETS PREAMBLE and What it meansThe views expressed here are my personal views and I try every day to live up to some of if not all of Our Preamble. Sometimes it's a battle between personal life, work, home, and whatever! Sick or well I will always do my part in making this country stronger, safer, and secure by getting involved and staying involved. We as Veterans need to stay together, work together for the common good of our country no matter what Organization you belong to! Below is the AMVET PREAMBLE but I believe it is one shared by all the Veterans Groups in our Country. The Time has come to unite like never before! There is a whole new generation of Veterans that need our Guidance and help. I hope my words will inspire some of you that have been sitting idle letting others do the work to start getting involved. Your not just helping a less fortunate Veteran, Your helping yourself in the process.
AMVETS PREAMBLE
WE, The American Veterans, Who have Served or are serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, During and Since World War II, Fully realizing our responsibilities to our communities, Our States and Our Nation Associate ourselves for the following purposes: 1. To Uphold and Defend the Constitution of the United States. 2. To Safeguard the principles of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice for ALL. 3. To Promote the cause of Peace and Goodwill among Nations. 4, To Maintain Inviolate the Freedom of Our Country. 5. To Preserve the Fundamentals of Democracy. 6. To Perpetuate the Friendship and Associations of all Veterans. 7. To Dedicate Ourselves to the cause of Mutual Assistance. All this is by the grace of God.
Simply Stated, "We, The AMERICAN VETERANS AND ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE PERSONNEL of the United States of Amerca have a unique bond to one and other for the rest of Our Lives. We may not all be in uniform and some of us are getting a little long in the tooth, but we do fully realize that each of us is personally responsible in service to Our Communities, Our States, and Our Nation as a whole. We Associate Ourselves to Defend the United States Constitution and Our Country from ALL Enemies both Foreign or Domestic, Just like the 56 signers of the Constitution did 200+ years ago. We still Pledge our allegiance to safeguard the Principles of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice for all. We swear an oath to maintain inviolate the Freedom of Our Country and to preserve the fundamentals of Democracy. We strive for Peace and Understanding between Nations. We must always perpetuate the Friendships and associations of all American Veterans dedicating ourselves to the cause of Mutual Aid and Assistance of every worthy American Veteran where ever They may be.
I personally try to live these words because I believe in them. We don't stop being service personnel just because we are out of the service. Our Country still needs us. So AMVETS don't stop getting involved. There is a lot of service still left in our souls and a lot of work that still needs to be done. We are the role models now. The teachers for the next veteran generations. Read over the AMVETS Preamble. Read the first section of the United States Constitution and read your oath you took before your brothers and sisters. Live up to your oath. Help out at a VA, Organize your communities for Overseas Packages, Know a Vet in trouble? Help Him. That is what its all about. Caring, Sharing, Giving. It is why God put us on this earth. Think about this!
